Point Roberts is a small unincorporated community in Whatcom County , Washington , United States . An exclave of the United States, it sits on the southernmost tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula , south of Delta , British Columbia , Canada . Point Roberts can only be reached from the rest of the U.S. by traveling through Canada or crossing Boundary Bay . Other exclaves of this type include the Northwest Angle , Minnesota; Elm Point, Minnesota ; Alburgh, Vermont , and on a larger scale, the state of Alaska .
